Rehoboth man charged in assault

Police were sent to a home on Magnolia Road near Rehoboth Beach at 8 p.m. after a verbal argument between Theodore F. Thompson, 37, and a 51-year-old man escalated, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. Pepper said Thompson punched the man before getting some items from inside the home and putting them in the trunk of his vehicle. Thompson took out an unknown item from the trunk and charged at the man, who then hit Thompson with a baseball bat, Pepper said. 

Car strikes, kills Georgetown woman crossing U S 113

December 24, 2020 A Georgetown woman was struck and killed Dec. 23 while crossing Route 113 in Georgetown. The woman, 65, was trying to cross Route 113 about a quarter-mile south of Bedford Street at 6:20 p.m. when she was struck by a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by a Greenwood woman, 49, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The driver was unable to avoid the woman, striking her with the front left bumper within the left-hand travel lane, Pepper said. After impact, she said, the woman came to rest within the grassy median west of the roadway. The Fusion continued a short distance before coming to a controlled stop on the grassy median.

Rehoboth man charged with attempted car theft

Delaware State Police were called at 5 p.m. to a home in the 25000 block of Banks Road for a report of an individual attempting to gain entry into a vehicle, and learned Sean R. Caldwell had gone onto the private property and tried to get in a vehicle, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The vehicle was running and parked in the driveway, and the homeowner’s son was inside the locked vehicle, Pepper said. The son called a family member who was still inside the home. The family member came out and confronted Caldwell, and detained him until police arrived, Pepper said.

Smyrna man faces drug charges following Route 1 traffic stop

December 10, 2020 Victor J. Keeler/DELAWARE STATE POLICE PHOTO A Smyrna man faces drug charges Dec. 8 after police said he was speeding on Route 1 near Cave Neck Road. Victor J. Keeler, 43, was driving a Mercury Milan southbound at 5:58 a.m. when a trooper on patrol clocked him at a high rate of speed, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. When the trooper contacted Keeler, Pepper said, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the inside the vehicle. A criminal investigation ensued, and police found about 24.69 grams of marijuana on Keeler. During a search of his vehicle, police found two large throwing knives with 4-inch blades, about 10 grams of methamphetamine, $351 in suspected drug money, and drug paraphernalia. Keeler was transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance tier 2 quantity, carrying a conceale
