Mardis Powell Jr., 21, called a 17-year-old girl about 10:40 p.m. and the two had met in the parking lot of the Carillon Woods Apartments off Hollyville Road when Powell became aggressive with her, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The two argued before Powell took the teen’s cellphone, threw it on the ground, and then sprayed her in the face with pepper spray, Pepper said. The fight turned physical in the parking lot before the two were separated by another individual; the teen got into her 2011 Hyundai Sonata and began to drive away when Powell kicked the side of her car, Pepper said. One man faces indecent exposure charge, the other assault after punching him

May 6, 2021 A Millsboro man faces an assault charge after police say he punched another man, who ended up being taken to an area hospital. Police say the second man had exposed himself May 1 outside Hooked Up Ale House. Police were called at 7:45 p.m. to the ale house on Town Center Road in Millville for a report of a disorderly individual, where they found an unconscious man in the parking lot, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. Medical personnel were treating the Bethany Beach man, 26, and he was taken to an area hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital in serious condition, Pepper said.

Woman killed by bus while crossing Route 24

April 25, 2021 A Maryland woman crossing Route 24 overnight April 25 was struck and killed by a bus. The woman, 30, from Huntington, Md., was walking north across Route 24 near Warrington Road at 1:23 a.m. when she walked directly in front of a Ford E-450 bus traveling westbound on Route 24, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The woman was wearing dark clothing with no reflective material and she was not carrying a light, Pepper said. The bus driver did not see her, and the left front side of the Ford struck the pedestrian within the westbound lane of travel, she said.
