Telecom workers give Huawei Technology 14-day strike notice  On By Elizabeth Adegbesan The Private Telecommunications and Communications Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PTECSSAN, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Huawei Technology Nigeria Limited over alleged unfair labour practices. At a briefing in Lagos, PTECSSAN, an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, listed some of the alleged unfair practices. The unfair practices, they said, include “intimidation, harassment and verbal assaults; poor and discriminatory remuneration; abuse of expatriates quota policy; increasing spate of precarious work; breach of freedom of association and right to organize; “Going against International Labour Organisation, ILO, convention on leave days and leave allowance; 24 work hours; restrictive career path;  disregard for occupational health and safety of employees, and no exit package structure even for long term staff.”

By Ugo Aliogo The Private Telecommunications and Communications Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PTECSSAN) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Huawei Technologies Nigeria Limited to halt what it described as disregard and denial of workers’ fundamental rights to freedom of association as enshrined in Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution.
