Section of I-26 in Henderson County closing as final section of old bridge removed Kari Barrows © Provided by WLOS Asheville/Greenville Drivers traveling through Henderson County Wednesday night should be aware of some overnight closures on Interstate 26. Officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) say a section of I-26 East will be closed Wednesday night, June 2, and motorists will be diverted onto a detour that will be modified to handle the increased traffic. I-26 East will be closed from U.S. 25 Business (Exit 44) to Upward Road (Exit 53) starting no earlier than 8 p.m., when a contractor for NCDOT will begin removing the final section of the old bridge on Brookside Camp Road over the interstate.
