UPDATE: Man killed in wall collapse at Hajoca identified UPDATE: A man who died Wednesday morning after a retaining wall collapsed on a construction crew at the Hajoca parking lot in Hendersonville has been identified. The individual who succumbed to his injuries at the scene has been identified as 37-year-old Marcelino Godofredo Rendon Hernandez, according to city of Hendersonville Communications Manager Allison Justus. Hernandez was one of a five-man masonry crew with Robert Crawford Masonry working on the wall when it collapsed.  When first responders arrived, they found at least four of the men trapped under the wall. One crew member, who escaped on his own with minor injuries, told emergency personnel there were four crew members working with him.

Stronghurst man arrested for domestic assault

Stronghurst, Il- The Henderson County Sheriff's Office has reported the arrest of a Stronghurst man on charges of domestic violence. On Monday, January 18th, deputies arrested 28-year-old Jessie Bowman of Stronghurst (above) for Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest. This arrest stems from a family disturbance that led to domestic violence. While the deputies were arresting Bowman, he resisted arrest. Bowman is being held at the Henderson County Jail without bond pending a court appearance.

  The U.S. Marshals Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force requested the assistance of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office in serving a fugitive warrant at 113 Terry’s Gap Road.  Upon arrival of the Henderson County Officers and agents with the Carolina’s Regional Fugitive Task Force the wanted subject, Steven Dewayne Tucker, refused to come out of the residence. After a brief conversation with officers he begin to barricade himself inside the home.  Officers learned through interviews conducted with family members of Tucker that a handicapped relative was inside the home.  The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Negotiation Team was called to the scene and began negotiations with Tucker. After several hours of negotiations, officers were able to successfully extract the handicapped relative from the residence unharmed.

OSHA investigating after Hendersonville wall collapse leaves 1 dead, others injured     HENDERSONVILLE, North Carolina (WLOS) OSHA is investigating after a 12-foot concrete retaining wall collapsed Wednesday morning in Hendersonville, killing one man and injuring four others. The wall collapse happened near Hajoca Corporation, a plumbing supply, kitchen and bath showroom, as a crew of workers for an independent contractor were doing repair work at the base of the retaining wall. In a statement Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 13, the Office of Henderson County Attorney Charles Burrell said the County Inspections Department did not receive an application for a permit for the project from the contracting company, which would have been required for this type of project design.
