HENDERSON HARBOR â After nearly 20 years of owning and operating the Association Island KOA Campground located on its namesake island in Lake Ontario, the Shim family announced Monday that it has sold the resort.
In a post on the businessâs Facebook page, Dr. John Shim, now-former chief executive officer of Association Island, said his parents, Dr. Nak K. and Sue Shim, have sold the recreational vehicle park to Sun Communities Inc.
âWe are confident Sun Communities will take Association Island to new heights while preserving the history, the beauty, and the legacy of Association Island,â the younger Dr. Shim wrote.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - John âMikeâ Linehan, 81, formerly from Henderson Harbor, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Samaritan Summit Village Nursing Home where heâd been residing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
Mike was born in Watertown, NY on December 27, 1939 to the late John Raymond and Helen Linehan. After graduating from High School, Mike joined the Air Force in 1960 where he was honorably discharged in 1966. Afterwards he owned and operated his familyâs insurance agency.
Marsha Louise Deming, age 80, passed away at home with acceptance and love on December 18, 2020. She was born on May 16, 1940 in Pittsfield, Mass to Irene and Marshall Stevenson. Marsha spent most of her life in upstate New York, received a management degree at Syracuse University, and worked at Bond, Schoeneck and King for many years before settling in Watertown with her sweetheart, Leslie.
She and Les loved the North Country and cherished the friendships and community involvement they developed there. They loved sailing, watching the birds from the deck of their beautiful cottage in Henderson Harbor, and sharing their love of food with family and friends. An avid bridge player, artist and SU sports fan, Marsha shared her expertise, leadership and philanthropy with a number of organizations, including the Presbyterian Women of Watertown (the Malawi Early Literacy Team), the Arts Association of Northern New York, Samaritan Hospital, United Way and Hospice of Jefferson County.
