Rhyl care home residents win contest after virtual floristry masterclass treat

The class was was by master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus. Staff and residents at Barchester’s Bradshaw Manor care home were invited to gather together flowers and foliage chosen by themselves and follow Michal’s demonstration to create their own displays. Residents’ arrangements were then entered into a Facebook competition judged by Michal and Michael, the visionaries behind Blooming Haus. Bradshaw Manor beat more than 100 other entries to win the Colour category in the competition with their impressive colourful display. Their prize is £100 in Love2Shop vouchers which they plan to spend on gardening equipment to continue our floral activities.

Spirits lifted as care home staff and residents receive Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in Rhyl

A GP surgery started vaccinating care home residents in Rhyl last week. Residents at Barchester’s Bradshaw Manor Care Home, on Chester Street, receive their first vaccination from the team at Clarence Medical Centre. Heidi Crompton, general manager, said the vaccine has lifted the spirits of their workers and residents after a difficult year. She added: “We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”

Rhyl care home allows family visits to Covid-safe lounge over Christmas

FAMILIES of care homes residents in Rhyl will be able to visit their loved ones over Christmas and the winter months after a socially-distanced visiting suite has been put in place. Bradshaw Manor Care Home has set up a Perspex glass screen in one of its rooms that has internal and external access for residents and family members to meet face-to-face. The care home, run by Barchester Healthcare on Chester Street, currently has arrangements for outdoor visits however with the colder months looming it made the decision to provide an indoor space for families to spend private time together. “The visiting suite has been a much welcomed development for our residents at Bradshaw Manor to continue to receive much looked forward to visits from their loved ones as the weather changes, said general manager Heidi Crompton.
