“He’s just writing on paper for me,” said his wife, Hayley Sylvester. She said Quewezance was bear-sprayed and stabbed when he tried to stop a stranger from using bear spray on his Albany Street neighbour. She said her husband and her son, Richard Daniels, were having a cigarette in their truck when they saw the neighbour being set upon. Daniels was also hit with bear spray and couldn’t see at first, but managed to pull the knife out of Quewezance’s chest, Sylvester said. Police responded to the stabbing report about 5:45 p.m. They originally arrested a man at a nearby-temporary housing facility in the 100-block of Gorge Road East, but have since determined that he is not a suspect. He remains a person of interest.
