Delhi HC adjourns hearing on PIL seeking reduction in price of Covid-19 vaccine ANI | Updated: May 17, 2021 14:23 IST New Delhi [India], May 17 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that sought direction to the respondents to reduce the price of anti-coronavirus vaccine for citizens of the country. The bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh deferred the matter after taking note that the Supreme Court of India is already examining a similar matter. The petitioner Rakesh, social activist, through Advocates AK Dubey and Pawan Kumar stated that earlier the price of vaccine at a private hospital was Rs 250, which was reasonable. It is not easy for most people to pay the increased cost of anti-Corona vaccine as it raises the expenses of the common people.

NEW DELHI: Pointing out the Centre s delay in taking decision, former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday asked who will be accountable for the avoidable infections and loss of lives due to the central government s delay to invite other vaccine manufacturers to produce Covaxin. In a series of tweets, Chidambaram said the suggestion for compulsory licences be issued to other manufacturers had been offered by the Congress four weeks before the government took the decision. Four weeks after the CWC demanded that compulsory licenses be issued to other manufacturers, the central government has decided to invite other manufacturers to apply to produce Covaxin ! he said.
