Suspect nabbed after pursuit

A Middletown man who authorities believe used a vehicle to ram a Hillsboro business entrance and steal a lottery machine last weekend was apprehended after he crashed his vehicle Tuesday while being pursued by law enforcement.
Michael Gammoh, 29, who has a Middletown address but also has a criminal record in Hillsboro Municipal Court dating back to 1999, was captured when his vehicle crashed into a ditch on Fairview/Lapparell Road in Pike County.
Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said that at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday his office received a call from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office advising that the Peebles Police Department was in pursuit of a black Mitsubishi Eclipse, with the driver believed to be wanted by the Hillsboro Police Department for a break-in at the East Main Sunoco in Hillsboro last Saturday.

A resident of the 7300 block of Hightop Road reported vandalism to their mail box.
A deputy was called to the 5100 block of U. S. Route 50 for a trespassing complaint.
INCIDENT/ARREST
Deputies assisted Adams County in a pursuit that began in Peebles, continued north on S.R. 41 into Highland County, continued in to Pike County before coming to and end on Fairview Road. Michael J. Gammoh, 39, was apprehended and faces multiple charges.
Sentenced for stealing van twice

A Highland County jury found a Sabina man guilty of two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, both fourth-degree felonies, this week and Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss rendered sentencing the same day.
Joshua J.J. Dettwiller, 29, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for stealing the same vehicle on two separate occasions in December 2020, plus got additional prison time for violating the terms of community control from a prior felony conviction.
According to the original indictment, the first incident occurred on Dec. 6, 2020 in Greenfield, when a woman reported that her black Dodge Caravan had been stolen from her residence overnight.

Fire totals Highland Co. dispatcher’s home

HIGHLAND CO. A recovery fund has been set up for a Highland County Sheriff’s Office employee who lost basically everything his family owned in a fire Monday evening on Concord Road in the southern part of the county.
“The only thing he got out with was the clothes on his back,” Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barerra said. “He had on a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. That’s all he has.”
