DOT stops Makati hotel s operations after Dacera death

The Department of Tourism (DOT) revoked City Garden Grand Hotel (CGGH) s authority to operate, after finding that it violated government guidelines in the wake of flight attendant Christine Dacera s death.
The department also revoked the Makati City hotel s DOT accreditation and imposed a fine of P10,000.
In a statement on Thursday, January 14, the DOT said the hotel was found liable for gross and evident bad faith in dealing with clients and making false and misleading claims to do business. Upon investigation, the CGGH was found to have misrepresented itself to the public as being allowed to accommodate guests for leisure or staycation purposes despite being a quarantine facility, the DOT said.
Dacera s friend: Hotel workers slow in helping her

Rapinan is one of Dacera s friends whom police had tagged as among the suspects in the case despite an incomplete investigation into Dacera s death. Three other suspects who were earlier detained by police had been released as police did not present evidence to back up their allegations of rape with homicide.
Rapinan recalled calling for hotel employees to help them revive Dacera after they tried performing CPR on her.
He said that the employees who arrived did not immediately perform CPR on Dacera and transported her through a wheelchair to the hotel s clinic where another employee performed CPR on her.
