The Honda N7X Concept received its digital world premiere in Indonesia yesterday. Designed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific, the N7X name stands for “
New
7-Seater e
Xcitement” and the three-row, seven-seat, SUV-flavoured people carrier appears to preview the next-generation Honda BR-V.
The N7X sports a cleaner and more conventional look than today’s BR-V, which we first saw six years ago. In front, a straight bonnet meets a bluff nose. The face appears to be inspired by the latest Odyssey facelift, and there are plenty of LED lights.
The N7X’s profile is clean and it deletes the BR-V’s fussy lines and trademark window kink – just one crisp line from headlamp to taillamp here. The rear end also follows the clean and simple theme, and the BR-V’s red bridge connecting the tail lamps – which feature City-style LED signatures now – are gone. The concept, which looks very production-ready, also sports a new dashboard and Honda Lanewatch.

Honda is set to relocate a factory from India to Indonesia, although it has not been disclosed as to when this will occur.
CNN Indonesia reports that the country’s minister of industry, Agus Gumiwang, revealed these plans following a meeting with Honda principals during a visit to Japan last week.
Agus said that that Honda has pledged a strong commitment to investing in Indonesia. “Honda is committed to increasing investment until 2024 of around 5.2 trillion rupiah (RM1.49 billion), including the development of new models being carried out in Indonesia,” he said. He added that the automaker is planning to build a new electrified model in the republic, but its identity was not revealed, nor was it disclosed if it would be a hybrid.

Following its world debut in Thailand last November, the Honda City Hatchback has now been launched in Indonesia, replacing the third-generation Jazz that was previously offered there. Interestingly enough, the archipelagic country is welcoming the hatchback version of the latest City first, before the sedan that is already available to us in Malaysia.
For the Indonesian market, the City Hatchback comes in a sole RS trim level, although customers will get to choose between a six-speed manual (yes, you read right) and a CVT, both mated to the same engine.
Just like our market, that engine is not the 1.0 litre VTEC Turbo three-cylinder petrol unit offered in Thailand. Instead, it’s a 1.5 litre DOHC i-VTEC naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that makes 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque, which Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) – the local distributor there – says is the most powerful in its class.
