Members of the 106th Precinct on Friday thanked the Howard Beach community for donating hundreds of Easter baskets to the less fortunate this year.
“Thank you to the Howard Beach/Lindenwood Civic Association and Howard Beach Moms for the Easter Basket donations to churches and shelters within our community,” grateful cops wrote on Facebook. “So many children will have a Happy Easter thanks to all your generosity.”
The Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic returned the favor.
“The HBLCIVIC/HBMom Easter Basket Drive was an enormous success. None of this would have been possible without the tons of donations received from residents of Howard Beach and the surrounding communities,” they wrote on FB. “Once again our partners at the 106th Pct., especially Det. Queens County Republican Party Chairwoman Joann Ariola has made it official: she’s running for the City Council District 32 seat.
Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) currently represents the interests of residents of District 32, which includes Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, Broad Channel, Woodhaven, and the Rockaways; he’s set to be term-limited out of the seat he has held since 2009.
Professionally, Ariola is director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the MediSys Health Network. Off the clock, she is president of the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic, and a member of both the 106th Precinct Community Council and Community Board 10.

After being peppered with questions Tuesday evening regarding the recent drag-racing craze in Howard Beach, Capt. John Costello, commanding officer of the 106th Precinct, pledged to put a dent in the dangerous trend.
“You have my word,” Costello said during the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic meeting, “this week, action will be done.”
Howard Beach resident John Spagnuolo dubbed the events “drag racing parades” that see incredibly loud, souped-up autos shooting down 151st Avenue at blistering speeds.

On #SuperheroSaturday, the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic took to Facebook to spotlight the efforts of Alison Jasiak of the PS 207 community:
“Alison Jasiak (c.) has been a member of the PTA of PS 207 for the past 10 years. Once her son Gregory became a student at the school she immediately became involved in all fundraising activities. She brought a very successful book sale to the school and worked tirelessly coming up with new and fun ideas for the students and staff. For the past five years she has served as the PTA co-president and president and as a member of the school Leadership Team, volunteering countless hours both in the school and at home to make the PTA fundraising campaigns a success and most importantly making the school feel like a family. Alison had continued on as PTA president even though her son Gregory had graduated last June during the COVID pandemic. She continued to push fun, virtual activities through the PTA Facebook page. Alison is the epitome of a lead
