North-east council housing applications put on hold ahead of new system

The www.apply4homes.org.uk website handles applications for properties managed by Aberdeenshire Council, Hanover Scotland, Langstane Housing Association, and Osprey Housing. But from April, a new online portal will allow users to apply for rental properties directly from each housing provider. In preparation for the change, applications via Apply4Homes will close on Thursday, March 18. Existing applicants will not be required to reapply for properties and are being contacted directly to invite them to register for the new online system.

Hanover Scotland creates new homes after £20m loan move

Social landlord Hanover Scotland is set to continue the development of up to 60 affordable homes a year across the country after securing a new funding package from Royal Bank of Scotland. The non-profit organisation, which has been operating for more than 40 years, is one of Scotland’s largest social landlords providing affordable housing and support services for older people. Managing approximately 5,000 properties throughout the country, Hanover additionally provides telecare, community alarm and call centre services for more than 40,000 people, employing over 600 staff. With the pandemic meaning that many planned housing developments were paused or delayed, Royal Bank of Scotland stepped in to convert an existing £20m term loan into a revolving credit facility, allowing greater flexibility for deployment and use of the funds over a longer period of time.
