My name is Jeanette Ratzel, and I am the President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 814 of Portville, NY.
I am writing this letter on behalf of the ladies in our Unit, to ask for your help..

Fall will be here before you know it, and with that comes our annual 5K Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in the town of Portville.
We have our walk every first Saturday in October, as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year it will be October 7, 2017..
.
Our first year, we raised $3,500, with 50 participants.
Year two, we raised over $6,000, with 100 participants, the following year we raised $10,000, with over 250 participant, then $17,500, and last year $14,000, the following three years were $6,000.
In order for us to continue to do this, we need more help.
That is the reason for this letter..

Every year we give a t-shirt, breakfast, and lunch with the entry fee, which we try to keep as low as possible.
People really enjoy this and we would like to keep this the way we have run it for the first five years.
With this comes the responsibility of raising the money for the shirts.
We have a shirt designer and printer that has been helping us out with that and keeping our cost as minimal as possible.
With the number of people increasing every year for our walk, it is unfortunately becoming harder and harder for us to cover this cost, as we are a non-profit organization..

The purpose of this letter is to request your help to make this another memorable year.
We were hoping we can find some businesses that would like to sponsor us in this walk (with a donation of $50 or more), and we will have your name put on the shirts for supporting us and our efforts to help others.
Please have check to the Angel of Hope no later than September 15th..

It is a lot of work, but it is such a great cause, and we have been very fortunate that our community helps to support this wonderful function.
