Adam Russo was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 12th, 1983.
He grew up in a smaller city on the outskirts of Montreal called Vaudreuil - Dorion.
He started playing hockey when he was 5 years old for the WestLake hockey organization.
The region soon changed its name to La Presquile (the almost an island) thereafter, and he enjoyed his minor hockey career with great coaches like Rick Gray, Louis Neveu, Mario Richer and even his own father Frank Russo.
He started he started his career as a forward, changed to a goaltender within that same first year, went back to forward and then realized goaltending was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
Always playing at the highest levels during the winter, Adam also enjoyed playing AAA hockey during the summers as he grew up.
After playing his minor and major bantam for the Lac St.
Louis West Tigers, he graduated to the Gatineau Intreides, a Midget AAA team in Gatineau, Quebec, a city right outside of Ottawa.
After a great year there, he was drafted in the 2nd round, 29th overall to the Acadie Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
He played with "Le Titan" for four seasons.
In his first season, he was named to the All Rookie Team.
In 2002-03, he tied Nick Sanza and Roberto Luongo for the league-record in single-season shutouts with seven.
That same year, he won both the Jacques Plante trophy as best goaltender in the QMJHL and the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) Goaltender of the Year.
He was named to the First All-Star team of the QMJHL at the Golden Puck Award banquet and the CHL's First All-Star Team also.
He holds the career Season/Playoff record in the QMJHL for shutouts with a total of 23.
He also owns the QMJHL career playoff record for shutouts with 9.
He turned pro in 2004-05 overseas in the Italian Serie A League with HC Alleghe and HC Asiago.
He went on to play for Torino, Merano and HC Bolzano in Italy, before joining the French league "Magnus" in 2008-09 with ASG Tours.
In 2009-10, he returned to North America to play in the IHL with the Port Huron Icehawks.
During this season, he was called up to the AHL (American Hockey League) by the Houston Aeros, the Minnesota Wild's farm team.
At the end of the season he participated in the 2010 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Germany, where he played against both Team Canada and Team Latvia in the preliminary round.
In the 2010-2011 season, he joined the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League.
During that season, he got called up to the Rockford Icehogs of the AHL.

On a side note, after his rookie season in the QMJHL, he attended the Montreal Canadiens rookie camp, but missed out on a contract, and the year after he received his CHL Goalie of the Year award, he attended the Anaheim Mighty Ducks Pro Camp where he did very well, but again, was not offered a deal.
Before his season in 2009-2010 in Port Huron with the Icehawks, he also attended the Worcester Sharks training camp, farm team of the San Jose Sharks..
On his journey as a hockey player, he has attended some of the great goaltending schools like those of Phil Myre, Vladislav Tretiak, Francois Allaire, Johnny The China Wall Bower, Stephane Proulx, Jocelyn Deschenes and Angelo Lazzara..
Adam has also been teaching for over 11 years with multiple goaltending programs, bringing what he knows to already great programs, and helping goaltenders, both young and old, better their games..
