The Big Kid started as a wee embryonic website by Dave “The Big Kid” Levy in 2001.
Levy, after spending 23 glorious years in Magazine Publishing, took his collectable interest in advertising icons and combined it with his fondness for “the good old days” and thus, the Big Kid was born.

Although the website was educational, fun and prosperous, The Big Kid longed for a place where “kids could bring their adults”.
In July of 2004 the dream came true as he found the “swell-ist” location on the planet, right next to Nat’s Early Bite Restaurant, LA’s best and most popular comfort food Diner.
On September 24, 2004, the "Big Kid Collectable Toy Mall and Retro Store” opened to all of the world’s kids, big and small, and has gone on to become one of LA’s premier stops for cool stuff and good “old fashioned” fun..
