In the Spring of 1966, Mary Chaffee started looking for an inground swimming pool for her family to enjoy.
Her Aunt Mary, owner of one of the first gas stations to serve food in the area (now known as convenience stores!), recommended a plumber in Washingtonville, NY who was having a “Pool School”.
Mary attended and purchased a pool kit.
Her husband, Harold, and father, Charles Nelson, were both handy and had some construction experience so they built the pool with the help of a local excavator, Charles Valkmer..

When neighbors saw the beautiful job that they had done, the Chaffee’s were asked to build a pool for friend after friend and neighbor after neighbor.
With the amount of requests they had received, Harold and Mary decided to go into the pool construction business full time.
