Detailed description is A family-owned Christmas tree farm located on 20 acres in East Central Illinois on US HWY 40, east of Martinsville, IL.
Beginning in the spring of 1984 until the spring of 1987, Doug and Yvonne Dahnke planted 1,000 Christmas Trees on the three acres surrounding their home to establish the original site of Dahnke's Pine Patch.
In 1986 Dahnke's Pine Patch began purchasing Christmas Trees wholesale to establish a customer base.
While Doug handled the establishment of the Christmas Tree Patch, Yvonne began making hand-made crafts from the living room of their house also in 1986.
In 1988 the Dahnke’s began making wreaths and other Christmas tree by-products to use the trees that were not able to be sold for retail.
In 1989 with another addition to the family the Dahnke’s welcomed their youngest daughter Heidi and introduced the wholesale business by selling crafts to other craft shops in Nashville, IN, Charleston, IL, and Terre Haute, IN.
That year was also the beginning of the wholesale by-product division.
Yvonne made products and approached the three floral shops in Clark County.
From there things snowballed.
Dahnke’s were approached by local clubs to make a wholesale wreath that they could use as a fundraiser for their organization.
Yvonne hired seven stay-at-home moms to help her produce these wreaths and the other by-products she was making.
In addition, several high school boys and girls were hired to cut and bring in the greens from the field.
Until this point Dahnke’s had purchased their bows.
A decision was made to try to make our own bows and we have been making them ever since.
They would do all this work out of their garage.
This entailed renting a storage unit for 2 months so they could store everything that was in the garage and turn it into a wreath making workshop.
At this time people were already asking Dahnke’s to buy dug trees for windbreaks and natural privacy fences.
Then they started wanting deciduous trees.
That led to people asking for them to design a landscaping area around their homes.
Since 1989 Dahnke’s have expanded their landscaping business to include trees, shrubs, lawns, hardscape, tearing out, putting new plants in, and drainage issues..

We as the Dahnke family see our business as more than a money making endeavor.
Our goals are to first show our love for God to others.
Secondly to hire young people and train them about what work ethic is.
Thirdly, we want to serve and give back to our community.
This will be our 31st year in business.
