She attended the University of North Texas, where she graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Communication and Public Address.
She is a graduate of St.
Mary’s School of Law, and has been licensed to practice law since 1997.
Between undergraduate and law school she was selected as one of sixteen graduate students nation-wide to participate in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute fellowship in Washington, D.C.
Following law school, she served as a Bexar County Assistant District Attorney for ten years, where she was assigned to the Trial Division and handled cases ranging from misdemeanor DWI’s to felony Murders..

After leaving the District Attorney’s office, she served the County Courts as their Chief Administrator from May 2008 until December of 2009.
She has also maintained a private practice as a criminal defense attorney.
Judge Rodriguez was elected to the bench November of 2010, defeating a 16 year incumbent, and began her tenure on January 1st, 2011.
During her first year in office she was asked to serve on the Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Curriculum Committee of The Texas Center for the Judiciary, which serves as the primary source of judicial education for judges throughout the State.
Because of the extremely high number of DWI cases, a large portion of which are subsequent offenders, Judge Rodriguez, along with other concerned community members have worked to establish the first designated DWI Court in Bexar County.
The DWI Court targets repeat offenders and combines intensive supervision, with a focus on treatment and accountability of persons charged with a subsequent driving while intoxicated offenses.
Her vision for County Court #8 involves focusing on alternatives to incarceration and expanding the existing Adult Drug Court program in order to address public safety concerns while increasing offender accountability..

In August of 2012, Judge Rodriguez was honored in Washington D.C.
with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Distinguished Alumnus Award.
