This page is largely volunteer run.
We use our own time to visit the shelter, take pictures and post them to this page.
With that said, the above information may be the only information we have available for this animal as we do not like to get in the way of the shelter staff to ask a lot of questions on every single animal.
Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays.
It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc.
Every dog you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive toward adults.
As far as child or cat aggression, that is not a standard test that can be performed on every animal.
If you are concerned about either aggression, it is suggested that you visit the shelter in person and ask a shelter attendant for assistance.
While we do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, it is not suggested to do so because of the threat of sickness.
If you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough)..

We highly recommend you have your new family member vaccinated for Lyme Disease (Tick Born Illness) and also have them microchipped.
A chip can get your family pet back home faster.
All adopted pets are retired to have shelter, access to fresh water and food, please do not chain your pets, they want to be a part of your family and as social animals can become depressed, aggressive or lonely if tied outside all their lives.
If you cannot keep a pet you adopted from us, please either return them to us, or contact the volunteer team to help you find a suitable, safe home for your pet.
DO NOT lists pets on Craigslist and always ask for a small rehoming fee and references, including a vet reference to make sure they pet you can no longer keep gets a good home and doesn't end up in the wrong hands..

501-3c rescue pulls are free, spay/neuter confirmation due back to the shelter within 3-5 business days of pull.
Rescues please contact the shelter at the above info to get approval, only requirement is 501-3c standing.

The spay/neuter starts at 75.00 an goes up by weight and is done at any of the two local vets honoring the fees for the shelter and must be done at time of adoption..
Total Vetting for Individual Sponsorship(This is NOT through the shelter, but the volunteer team and a local Veterinarian) There are low cost options available in Scottsboro, AL and Jackson County, please contact the volunteer team or message the page to find out what resources you may qualify for.
