is a non-profit educational organization with approximately 12,000 members and close to 400 garden clubs statewide.
We are a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc.

This club is recognized as the first garden club in the United States.

In 1936, the Garden Club of Georgia began a fund to create a living memorial to the twelve founders of the Ladies' Garden Club.

Owens, his staff, and students of the University of Georgia Landscape Architecture Department designed the Founders Garden on the UGA campus.
The layout of the two and one-half acre series of gardens and the grounds of the former Headquarters House for the Garden Club of Georgia consists of a formal boxwood garden, two courtyards, a terrace, a perennial garden, and two informal areas.
The project was completed in 1946.
The rose-brick, Greek Revival style house on the property was built in 1857.
The house and garden are on the National Register of Historic Places as well as the Georgia Register of Historic Places.
The Garden Club of Georgia occupied the house as its State Headquarters from 1963 to 1998.
Today, the Founders Garden is maintained by the College of Environment and Design and serves as a teaching resource for the university.
