Detailed description is Brief History of Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church of Harrisburg.

In Fall 2006, a small group of individuals organized for the purpose of extending the presence of the conservative Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in the greater Harrisburg area.
In the months that followed, plans were made for the founding of Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church of Harrisburg.
As its name implies, Gloria Dei is dedicated to giving glory to God through all its ministries.
Its membership is seeking to accomplish this by bringing the gospel to those who may have never belonged to a church and those who have abandoned church life, for any reason..

On April 15, 2007, our congregation worshipped for the first time in Bethany Court Chapel at Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg.
For over a year, we were served primarily by three local LCMS pastors who took turns leading our Sunday services.
During this period, we received our charter from the LCMS English District.
It was presented on Dec.
2, 2007 by District President David P.
Stechholz who led us in worship and celebration.
In February 2009, Rev.
Robert J.
Nemoyer became our regular part-time pastor..

Since our founding, we’ve added members, baptized babies, confirmed several young people, organized a Sunday School class, and formed an active choir.
We are served by two organists and a choir director.
Through its financial ministry, Gloria Dei has supported numerous Christian organizations.
