A Church Above & Beyond On March 13, 1983, God spoke to Elder Charles Pitchford to organize the Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
On this date, thirteen (13) members met at True Love Baptist Church, (the late Rev.
J.C.
Carodine, Pastor), located on 119th & Main Street in the City of Los Angeles.
Elder Charles Pitchford and the members of Greater Hopewell continued to pray for God to bless them with a place of worship..

Pastor Pitchford and his Dad, Elder Charles Pitchford met with the Rev.
Dorothy Daniels of Holy Light M.B.C.
At this time, she offered the building located at 5509 S.
Compton Avenue in the City of Los Angeles as a place of worship for Greater Hopewell.
The building was a small storefront in which we had a first service in on Sunday, March 15, 1983.
Rev.
Daniels rented the building to us for only $90.00 per month and never increased the amount.
Rev.
Daniels also assisted Elder Pitchford to incorporate Greater Hopewell with the State of California..

In one year’s time we had outgrown this location and needed to find another building to accommodate our growing membership.
Greater Hopewell has moved many times in the past 25 years; losing and gaining members..

In 1988, Elder Charles Pitchford was committed to ensure Pastor Pitchford would be ready to carry the torch to move Greater Hopewell forward.
At this time, Pastor Pitchford was given charge as Pastor of Greater Hopewell, in addition to the Administration of the church.
On March 13, 1990, Elder Charles Pitchford returned to his Heavenly Father, without questions..

Some whispered after the death of Elder Charles Pitchford Greater Hopewell wouldn’t last six (6) months.
Through the years, the enemy has tried to attack us, but God’s plan is greater than the enemies and we remain a true Church Family in every sense of the word.
It is now 2009 and we are celebrating 26 years of Ministry.

During the absence of our awesome Pastor, God granted us favor and added to our membership.
So many blessings have come to Greater Hopewell; we cannot possibly mention them all.
For this, we give Him glory.
For this, we live and move for Jesus Christ..

We thank God for the thirteen (13) members present at the inception of Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Out of the thirteen (13) original members, Pastor Pitchford is one of them and continues to serve the Ministry with love, faith and integrity..

In July 1994, under the guidance of Pastor Kenneth B.
Pitchford, Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church joined the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International and our name changed to Greater Hopewell Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.
Pastor Pitchford continues to move Greater Hopewell forward as a church known internationally for encouraging the lost to help them find their way.
