Detailed description is What is Hearts of Fire?.
Hearts of Fire is a uniquely designed hands on religious education program for 7th and 8th graders ,who are confirmed, or are preparing for Confirmation.
Hearts focuses on the themes of Creed and Morality.
Within these themes consist a vast topic bank ranging from service, decision making, families and vocations, just to name a few.
Weekly sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from September thru May.
Registration takes place when Confirmation preparation begins..

What is the Goal of Hearts of Fire?.
To encourage the teens to become active in their faith by living their faith.
Hearts gives the tools needed for teens to become more involved in service, the parish and to grow their own faith knowledge.

How is Faith Taught?.
Faith is taught thru group discussions, guest speakers, bible studies, games, group activities, and individual faith exploration opportunities..

What does a typical session look like?.
The most noticeable difference with Hearts is that the sessions take place outside of a classroom and not at a desk with a book and pen.
Hearts breaks out of the conventional classroom approach.
Teens begin each session with a group prayer experience with teens being active participants.
Ice breakers are done each week.
The topic is introduced to the group and the teens break into smaller groups with a Hearts Leaders to complete activities.
Once the activity is completed, teens regroup for a whole group activity/discussion.
A closing prayer ends each session.
Group potlucks, dessert nights and ice cream parties are often incorporated..

How are Teens encouraged to explore their Faith?.
Teen are encouraged to explore their faith by embracing their own faith journey in a supportive and faith filled atmosphere.

Community Service is a heavy component in the Hearts of Fire program.
We call these nights Helping Hearts.
There is one in class project done a month, along with opportunities to pursue out of class service.
Service projects have included, bagged lunches for the soup kitchen, silverware for the soup kitchen, prayer squares for the military, card making for nursing homes and knitting blankets for a women’s shelter.
In February Hearts teens choose 1 of 8 projects to complete off site.
Past projects have included; Coldstone Night for The American Cancer Society, and Baking for the Soup Kitchen.
Two group trips to the Food Bank of South Jersey also take place..
Youth Ministry .
The Youth Ministry program offers Hearts teens the opportunity to become more involved at Holy Family! Teens are invited and encouraged to attend the following events:.
• Snow tubing to the Poconos.
• Indoor/Outdoor Monthly Movie Nights.
• Halloween Costume Dance.
• Teen Lector and Altar Training .
• Summer Service Day.
• Cupcakes for Life.
• Teen VBS.
• Children’s VBS Counselors.
• Six Flags Youth Rally.
• Summer Monday Masses.
• Summer Wednesday Bible Studies.

How are Families involved?.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer as group leaders, chaperones, office assistants and “chefs” for our group meals.
A Sponsor and Teen Mass and Pancake breakfast is held in the fall, a family bowling night is held in the winter and a Family Potluck Dinner Dance is held in the spring to celebrate the program! A family Advent wreath event is held in November..
