Jose’s Courtroom has a rich history in La Jolla.
Jose’s Courtroom originally opened on Herschell Street in 1956 as “The Courtroom” by a dubious character who his friends referred to as “The Judge”, hence the moniker “The Courtroom”..

By 1957, John Fallis had taken over.
Fallis owed Jose’s for the following 20 years and had his hand in putting Jose’s on the map.
He turned the once Steak House into a Mexican food joint, hung out with the original Chargers team (who often frequented the bar) and had a mural reminiscent of the last supper, featuring himself and all of his very best patrons.
The mural still hangs in the restaurant today..

Then the restaurant was run for many years by local legend “Doc” and his wife Bobby.
Our staff often hears of the wild stories of the 80’s and 90’s.
