Detailed description is Hello, my name is Lana Pietro and I am the owner and cook at Lana’s..
For as long as I can remember, cooking and baking have been a passion of mine.
It's really that simple.
Nothing brings me greater joy than having company and making a good meal and seeing the reaction it has.
I am not referring to anything complicated, just simple food, done well.

A long time ago, an accounting professor said (which is the only thing I paid attention to in that class) keep it simple stuid! This applies to cooking and baking on many levels.
Complicated recipes with ingredients you can't pronounce that are only found in specialty stores simply aren't worth it.
Quite frankly, who has time for such nonsense?.
Years ago, I attended culinary school at Schenectady County Community College.
For those who say you can’t get a quality education at a community college simply don’t know what they are talking about and should be avoided at all costs!.
The program was and still is nothing short of amazing.
(Hi Chef Robert Payne!) I learned a hell of a lot in two short years.

I then went on to get my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, minoring in Hospitality Management.
I worked at Hannaford for seven years in the bakery department to help put me through college.
I loved every second of it! Working in retail, especially food service, is not easy work.
So always tip well, be nice to people who serve you in any capacity, it speaks volumes about your character as a person..
I also worked in various other bakeries and restaurants, decorating wedding cakes and waitressing.
I just kept my head down and picked up so many tips from so many talented, hard working people..
Somewhere along the way I thought this type of work wasn’t “good enough” and I should probably get a "real" job…whatever that even means.
I then went on to work for Columbia County Department of Social Services then transferred to Rensselaer County Department of Social Services.
In my time with the County, I learned two things; one, the child welfare system needs a complete overhaul and two, people in positions of power need to open their ears and eyes...immediately..
Nine years and too much heartache later, I thought, NO….I had enough, it’s time to go back to my roots and do what I love.
