NAU police officers are duly sworn peace officers, certified by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST).
Each officer is required to maintain the same skills, training, and qualifications as other police officers in the state, and in many cases receives even more specialized training in order to serve the university community.
NAU police officers are authorized to carry firearms and are empowered to enforce state and federal laws (apprehend and arrest) within the limits imposed by the state and federal constitutions and judicial rulings.
