During the first six years, Ocean View Historical Society members envisioned and built a historical complex on the Tunnell-West property at 39 Central Avenue that now includes the original Ocean View Post Office and an exact replica of Cecile Steele’s first chicken house.
The 1926 poultry house materials were donated by DE Department of Agriculture and the Mountaire Corporation, an international chicken processor with sites in Sussex County..

The Society strives to find new and interactive ways to “tell the story” of the growth of Ocean View and Baltimore Hundred.
With the support of the Town of Ocean View, public lectures are held periodically in the Ocean View Town Hall on West Avenue, located adjacent to the Historical Complex.
