PNWU is an accredited four-year postgraduate health sciences university What started as a conversation around a table in 2004 to address critical health care shortages in the five-state region of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska, soon became Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences(PNWU), through the efforts of founders, physicians and community members.
PNWU is a private, non-profit graduate school located in Yakima, Washington.
The school's inaugural program grants a doctorate in osteopathic medicine (D.O.).
It is the first new medical school in 60 years to open in the Pacific Northwest.
The school was founded in 2005 and accepted its first class on August 11, 2008.
