Detailed description is First Pittsburgh International Piano Competition invites young pianists worldwide to participate in its inaugural season.
PIPC sincerely invites piano students and teachers to the First Pittsburgh International Piano Competition.
Its purpose is to promote musical education in the community, cultural exchanges and learning experiences for the greater Pittsburgh region, and to raise awareness of classical music.

Eligibility: It is open to piano students of all ages and nationalities.
No affiliation of any professional groups required for the teachers.

Categories: Children A: up to 6 years old (as of April 22, 2017).
Children B: 7-9 .
Children C: 10-12.
Youth A: 13-15.
Youth B: 16-18 (or high school senior).
Young Artist: 19 and above (or college).

Prize: Children A: 1st ($50), 2nd (30), 3rd prizes (20), and honorable mention .
Children B: 1st ($100), 2nd ($80), 3rd prizes ($ 50), and honorable .
Children C: 1st ($150), 2nd ($100), 3rd prizes ($80), and honorable mention .
Youth A: 1st ($200), 2nd ($150), 3rd prizes ($100), and honorable mention .

Children A: One or two pieces of formal piano literature (from any method books or standard repertoire).
Children B: Two pieces of contrasting styles .
Children C: Two pieces of contrasting styles.
Youth A: Two pieces of contrasting styles.
Youth B: Two pieces of contrasting styles, one of which must be a fast movement of a classical sonata.
Young Artist: Three pieces of contrasting styles, one of which must be a fast movement of a classical sonata.

Showcase Concert: July 15th, 2017, Saturday at 1pm at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City .

ALL winners are invited to perform at the Winners’ Showcase Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
All winners must perform at the concert (except in extreme circumstances) in order to receive the awards.
