Today if a criminal defendant does not have thousands of dollars put away to pay for defense counsel, there is an extremely good chance that they will be convicted and put away in a county, state, or federal institution whether they are guilty of the charged crime or not.
The State, The Commonwealth has unlimited funds, clerks, paralegals, and counsel to argue their cause, Where-in-as the criminal defendant most times has nothing and no one to fight their cause or plead their case, and those who do have love ones arguing for them, the love ones most times don’t have the funds, the voice, or the know how to help their (confined) love ones.
