Detailed description is Rick established his ceramic studio on Lake Norman in 2015 following an accomplished 45-year career as a classroom teacher of advanced mathematics.
Rick was introduced to the pottery wheel by his daughter, Martha Sullivan, who founded Sol Pottery studio and gallery in 1998 and was a full-time professional potter and instructor for 10 years.
Martha then joined the Virginia Tech Industrial Design faculty where she teaches design and continues to instruct ceramics.
Rick began his study of ceramics in 2006 at the Floyd Center for the Arts in Virginia in summer classes and now studies year-round at Clayworks Studio & Gallery in Charlotte, NC..
