Our Visionary, then Elder Dr.
Bertha M.
Greene, organized the Sacred Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church in June 1996.
From its birth, Sacred Zion was and remains committed to the work of evangelizing the unsaved by preaching the unadulterated Gospel and meeting the needs of the whole person.
Our Outreach Mission extends to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, sexual orientation, religion, national origin or physical condition.

With just a few faithful and loyal friends, Sacred Zion services were initially held at the home of our pastor.
Shortly thereafter, worship was moved to Pimlico Middle School on Park Heights Avenue in Baltimore City.
God then assigned and placed us in the heart of the inner city at 20 W.
North Avenue, where we served the community for eight and one half years.
In June 2007, God blessed and allowed us to move into our own building in a residential section of the lower Edmondson Village community.

From the very beginning we embraced the theme: Where the Fallen Shall Be Raised To Stand, adopted from Psalm 145:14 ( The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

Using a hands-on-approach, it reaches out to individuals and families.
Our programs are designed to: 1) address basic needs - food, clothing and shelter; 2) provide information, educational and other proactive resources; and 3) utilize appropriate culturally-sensitive interventions to address the holistic and spiritual needs of men, women and youth.
Our aim is to assist them in becoming productive members of society by providing adequate support services through collaborative partnerships; thus, allowing them to achieve the highest level of independence and self-sufficiency..

Ministers provide individual care sessions in emotional support and spiritual guidance.
Substance abuse peer groups meet on Saturdays through our Call to Liberty Substance Abuse Ministry.
Due to the shift in our location, programs are currently being revised and updated to meet the needs of the new community.
However, the Street Evangelism Team remains steadfast, going into the community to win souls for the Kingdom.

In 1999, we organized Project ARISE, a church community-based organization.
This program operated for eleven years primarily from grant funding through The Center for Disease Control.
It provided prevention and support services to address health disparities impacting men, women and youth in Baltimore City.
