Detailed description is The Stevensville Middle School Band program is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to grow musically, socially, and academically.
Here at Stevensville, there are a number of instrumental ensembles that include Concert Band (all grades), Intermediate Band (6th), Symphonic Band (7th&8th), Jazz Band (by invitation only), and Pep Band (run in collaboration with the PFY afterschool program for all grades).
Integrated into Concert Band is Marching Band (all).
Students will play a variety of music from classical to popular literature.
Emphasis is placed on the development of fundamental skills related to posture, breathing, embouchure, fingerings, counting, music reading, and overall tone production.
Regular practice is required and private instruction is strongly encouraged..
Along with musical performance, students will be theoretically and historically exposed to music as well, along with cross curricular opportunities.
