Charles D.
Gerstmeyer Technical High School (1922–1971), Terre Haute James A.
Garfield High School (1912–1971).
Both Gerstmeyer and Garfield were involved in earlier consolidations as Glenn High (1914–51, 1953–61), Terre Haute Thornton (1936–39), Riley High (1911–13, 1917–61), the Terre Haute Girls Vocational High (1924–25) and part of Fontanet (aka Nevins Twp.) High (1917–61) student population were consolidated into Gerstmeyer; the remainder of the Fontanet population and Otter Creek High (1924–61) and Terre Haute Rankin (1936–38) were consolidated into Garfield.
Garfield itself was the first high school in Terre Haute, opening in 1904.After its founding, North added students from Terre Haute State High (a 'laboratory school' for Indiana State University) in 1978 and from Terre Haute Paul C.
