* School hours are from 9am-2pm, with time spent each day in our garden/yard, and in natural places in and around Portland..

The Dandy Lions Outdoor Preschool has a heavy focus in both the garden world (the cultivated), and the natural world (the wild).
We spend time getting to know the plants and animals in our gardens, yards, and neighborhoods, as well as those native/common to the forests and fields of the Pacific Northwest.
With daily trips into the forest, we learn about plant identification/safety, the healing and nourishing power of plants, and other valuable insights into the world around us.

Our school is licensed, insured, and going strong into our second year of learning! Although my formal schooling leaves me with a Science Bachelor's in Sociology, I have taken many hours of continuing education classes in child development, as well as a full course in botanical medicine.
I will incorporate an eclectic array of philosophies, but ultimately work with a unique philosophy I have developed on my own.
Through stories, hands-on experiences, and play, we will explore our world.

-Most days will have time spent in the garden as well as the forest.
The rhythm of our days will generally look like:.

9-10am free play and project .
10-10:15 circle.
10:15-10:45 snack.
10:45-11 clean up/chores.
11 Head to the forest.
12:30-1 lunch (often eaten in the forest).
1-1:30 forest time continues .
1:30-2 heading back to school.

* There will be several breaks scheduled into the year.
Summer breaks will consist of one week in July, and an end of summer break (one week, to mark the end of the summer program and the start of the fall school year).
The school year will include a Thanksgiving break (over which parent teacher conferences will be held), Winter break (two weeks), Spring break (one week), and a beginning of summer break (one week, to mark the end of the school year and summer program).
Tuition is calculated as an annual cost, divided into monthly payments.
While these breaks are not included in the cost of care, your monthly payment will not vary during the months that include a break.
