With her musical background and talent she became a cast member of the musical "HAIR" with the Swiss Theater Company and toured Europe in the early seventies. She then joined a group called FAMILY TREE from 1973 until 1975, when she was a part of this eleven person group. In 1974 Donna Summer joined FAMILY TREE as a member. Their music was a mix of soul, folk and jazz.
Lucy Neale sang on the first Silver Convention album and did the talking intro on Penny McLean's single "Lady Bump." In 1974, the vocalists on the first SILVER CONVENTION album "Save Me" were Gitta Walther, Roberta Kelly, Betsy Allen, Lucy Neale and Jackie Carter.
Lucy recorded a single released in Germany as a solo artist with the name LUCY O’DAY in 1974. After she left FAMILY TREE, she formed a rock-jazz group in Munich with another FAMILY TREE member, Mel "Candy" Canady, called RUBY AND THE MUDFLAPS with eleven people on stage also. She was the only female vocalist in the group and was a singer/songwriter with the group.
Concurrently, she was a member of a pop-jazz group called RED POINT ORCHESTRA with Donna Summer, Mel "Candy" Canady, and Peter Bischof as singers, accompanied by six musicians. She was a member of WILL RAY & THE SADDLE SORES. Throughout her career Lucy Neale kept on writing songs.
During the peak of the disco era Lucy was sought after as a backing vocalist, often together with LOVE GENERATION member Gitta Walther. Together they sang back up vocals for Donna Summer ("Love To Love You Baby.") In 1975 Lucy joined the German group LOVE GENERATION and stayed in the group until 1978. LOVE GENERATION recorded in German and in English, and the group entered the German pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 and 1976. Their music style was a mix of easy listening and pop music.
Together with LOVE GENERATION member Gitta Walther, Lucy formed a four-woman vocal harmony group called THE HORNETTES in 1980. They quickly invited Christina Harrison, and about a year later, added Linda G. Thompson as a replacement for Dagmar Hellberg. THE HORNETTES entered the Eurovsion Song Contest twice; they entered for Germany in 1981 and for Austria in 1983.
In 1985 in her thirties Lucy left Germany and THE HORNETTES and returned to the United States. She settled in San Diego, California where she now has a successful career selling California Real Estate; her website is http://www.lucyimhome.com
She volunteers at Project Wildlife in San Diego & Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, and Project Wildlife in San Diego. She is an EW Scripps Associate of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, and also a contributing member of The Nature Conservancy, Ocean Conservancy, The Marine Mammal Center, Gorilla Foundation, & The Elephant Sancturary.
Singing still runs through her blood, and she formed a new female group called MOXIE together with her friends. In 2003 they released a compact disc called "It Tales Moxie".
