Initiated through the work Transition Town Totnes, Totnes Caring and others have been doing with Devon County Council on Caring Town Totnes, conversations have been taking place about the future of the Mansion..

Since last autumn a working group, established by the Town Council, has been looking into the .
feasibility of the town taking over the trusteeship and management of the Mansion building and the land in which it sits.
A structural and conditions survey was commissioned and also research into a possible business model for the long term financial sustainability of this much loved, but currently underused, town asset..

What emerged from this feasibility work was that there is quite some way to go to make the building fit for purpose and able to generate enough income to cover its costs but that it was not beyond the people of our town to come up with some inspiring solutions and ideas which could make the Mansion into the building many of us have thought many times that it could be..

To bring this asset into town ownership would be an incredible thing but it will need many friends to make it happen so a Drop-In Session is being held in the Mansion on Saturday 7th March between 10am and 1pm.
