VGBN is primarily a volunteer-driven organization, and the support of members is critical to our success in carrying out the annual Vermont’s Greenest Awards Competition, education and advocacy work.
We have over 100 members listed in our online member directory, and we also maintain a mailing list to which 700 Vermont green building professionals subscribe.
Our Annual Meeting brings together members to network and share green building practices and ideas..

The founding members of the Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN) believed in the power of a networking organization to promote green building practices in Vermont.
VGBN was formed in 2002 with seed funding provided by the Vermont Department of Public Service to bring people together interested in transforming the way we build - to share ideas, learn strategies, and connect with partners.
The organization became a registered 501(c)(3) in January 2004.
In April 2005, VGBN became the Vermont Chapter of the U.S.
Green Building Council (USGBC), connecting us to a network of over 70 other USGBC Chapters across the country.
VGBN remained the official Vermont Chapter of the U.S.
Green Building Council until December 2015..
