Detailed description is First Step is for WWU students and faculty who would like more activity in their lives but don't know how or where to start.
What is First Step?.
.
This program is offered to members of campus recreation who could benefit from getting more activity in their lives.
It focuses on individualized movement goals and overcoming personal barriers to starting and continuing a movement program..
.
-Each participant will be taken through an assessment by a Certified Athletic Trainer or Clinical Personal Trainer who specializes in movement analysis.
-Participants will receive three FREE follow up training sessions with the Personal Trainer.
-Programs will start with basic exercises that assist individuals in making movement easier and more enjoyable and will focus on activities the participant enjoys.
-Once they have completed their three training sessions participants may choose to continue independently or with others in the program or they may choose to continue with a personal trainer at the usual rate..

-Individuals may become a part of the First Step Crew, a network of other participants who are involved in the program.

-Student participants will also be connected to other campus resources as interested.
Resources may include dietician, stress management, counseling, women's/men's health, alcohol and other drug services, peer advisors, CASAS.
-NuFit.
-Members of First Step will be encouraged to attend NuFit presentations on fitness, nutrition, and health and wellness topics .
