BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A local water utility has been recognized for their implementation of green practices within their operation.
The Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District was recently awarded the EnviroStars Tier 1 – Leader certification.
The District chose to participate in the program as a natural extension of its mission to lessen its footprint through improving sustainable business practices
General manager Justin Clary said the District considers the certification a start and intends to pursue additional EnviroStars measures in the future.
The Lake Whatcom Waster & Sewer District provides water and sewer services to over 4,000 customers in an 18-square-mile area encompassing Lake Whatcom.
