Updated: 9:06 AM PDT May 7, 2021 PORTLAND, Ore. — A 25-year-old man was killed when the car he was riding in crashed into a power pole in Northeast Portland late Thursday night. The driver, 29-year-old Anthony L. Soto of Portland, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving and reckless endangering. Investigators said Soto was speeding in a Chevrolet Tahoe when he crashed into a power pole, shearing it off at the base. Soto was injured in the crash but is expected to survive, police said. The crash caused enough damage to the power pole to threaten power lines. Utility crews made repairs overnight.
