Picture used for representational purpose only KODERMA: Personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) found 115 Indian flapshell turtles in an unclaimed bag at the Koderma railway station on Sunday after they received a tip-off about the smuggling of the reptiles, officials said. Jawahar Lal, officer-in-charge of RPF police station, said, “No arrests have been made and the turtles have been handed over to the forest department.” Divisional forest officer Suraj Kumar Singh said, “The range officer has been asked to investigate the matter properly with the help of the railway police. We have to find the smuggling route and the people behind the crime. Our personnel will take proper care of the seized turtles and they will be sent to the nearest habitat for rehabilitation before their release. Indian flapshell turtles are freshwater turtles and are protected under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.”
