View Comments A high school student died Monday afternoon in a collision on Pickens Drive near Sargent Road east of Pendleton. Zachary James Long, 17, of Pendleton, was identified as the driver of the motorcycle by the Anderson County Coroner's Office. Long attended Pendleton High School where he was a junior. Principal Brian Couch said Long had one of the best smiles in a statement on Anderson School District 4's website. "His smile would light up an entire room. He had plans to go to Tri-County Tech next year and start the wielding pathway program. He will be greatly missed by his classmates," the statement from Couch said.
