Estherville Council Will Not Make Appointment to Open Seat By charguth July 19, 2021 6:28 pm Saga Communications Estherville, IA (KICD)– The Estherville City Council decided Monday evening to leave a soon-to-be vacant seat open for the time being. The opening is being created by the resignation of long-time Councilman Gene Haukoos who cited health issues for his decision to step away. City Administrator Penny Clayton presented two options to the council, but both routes would result in the seat being on the ballot on November 2nd. Haukoos will step away from the Estherville City Council on August 4th after nearly a quarter century of service to the community.
