Local Community College and Schools To Benefit from State Education Funding By charguth April 7, 2021 11:02 am clipart.com Des Moines, IA (KICD)– A local community college and three school districts will be benefitting from a state education grant aiming to establish new college and career transition counselor positions. The 50 thousand dollar competitive grant is being given to Iowa Lakes Community College to help better prepare high school students for success in college, post secondary career training and the workforce. Spencer Community Schools Superintendent Terry Hemann tells KICD News the program will also take some of the workload off of the two current counselors at the high school and allow them more time to help students in other ways.
