By Tue Jul 27 2021 Two men, Samuel Anietie (22) and Yusuf Oyelade (29), on Monday, appeared before an Ikeja magistrates’ court for assaulting a policeman. The duo were arraigned on a three-count charge of breach of peace, assault and willful damage to property. The prosecutor, ASP Rachael Williams, alleged that the defendants assaulted one Sgt Omodele Omosule while performing his lawful duty and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by selling stolen phones. ASP Williams further told the court that the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on July 7, at the Computer Village, Ikeja. She said, “The defendants prevented the police officer from performing his lawful duty by throwing a stolen phone to one Ahmed who is still at large. They willfully damaged a necklace and a wristwatch worth N41,000, property of the complainant.”
