20 senior citizens nabbed for gambling in Ayer Itam : vimars

GEORGE TOWN: Bored of sitting at home during the movement control order and wanting to meet up with friends was the main excuse given by 20 people detained for illegal gambling.
The individuals, mostly senior citizens, were in a rented house used as a gambling den in Ayer Itam.
The raid at 1am on Sunday morning (Feb 7) was carried out by state police after observing them for a week.
In a statement, police said that the individuals arrested were surprised by the raid and did not have time to escape.
"Upon inspection, we found gambling equipment such as cards, mahjong blocks as well as cash on the table amounting to RM1,350.
