Bentley decided to update the Flying Spur despite its large luxury sedan being on the market for just one year. The 2022 Flying Spur now offers an even quieter cabin thanks to the company utilizing a ‘Virtual Prototyping’ design processes, which enabled the use of digital mock-ups to identify any unwanted NVH before even building a physical version of the car. Bentley claims that the cutting-edge process allowed them to optimize no less than 40 components, ensuring the use of the correct soundproofing materials on the right locations around the new Flying Spur for the “quietest cabin experience possible”. “By using Virtual Prototyping, Bentley succeeded in what we set out to do –optimize every component of the Flying Spur firstly in the virtual world before we create physical parts,” said Simon Noble, Acoustic Engineer at Bentley Motors. “At the same time, we have reduced physical prototypes, creating the quietest in-cabin experience for our customers.”
